Barr's assessment of Trump rings true, but he also enabled Trump when it suited his purposes, even weaponizing and politicizing the DOJ. When he resigned, Barr failed to oppose attempts to overturn the results of an election that he knew Trump had democratically lost.
Former President Trump enjoys overwhelming support among true Republicans and he remains the favorite to secure the 2024 nomination. Just this weekend he handily won the CPAC straw poll by an even higher margin than last year.
