    The Facts

    • Iran announced on Thurs. that Mohammad Kazemi has replaced Hossein Taeb as head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) intelligence service. No reason was given.

    • While Kazemi has been promoted from head of the Intelligence Protection Organization - the IRGC's counterintelligence branch - Taeb has been designated as an advisor to the IRGC's Commander-in-Chief.

    The Spin

    Narrative A

The IRGC is a terrorist organization that has been systematically plotting to murder and abduct Israeli citizens. It's no coincidence that Taeb's replacement came right after Mossad and the Turkish intelligence frustrated his latest plan.

    Narrative B

Allegations of an IRGC plan against tourists in Türkiye are unfounded. Israel is seeking to affect Turkish-Iranian relations and to distract public opinion from its regime through this psychological operation.
