This isn't a huge surprise. The vaccine was developed for earlier variants, and it's looking like two doses isn't enough for Omicron across all age groups. It's essential for parents to continue vaccinating their children, however, as it still offers a notable degree of protection against severe disease and death.
This whole thing is absurd. COVID is an ebbing health threat and there's now bipartisan consensus that the virus is endemic. However, special interest groups are still driving a perpetual "emergency." Governors, especially Democratic ones, have taken their authoritarian powers too far. It's time for this to end.
The low effectiveness of the children's Pfizer vaccine is ultimately bad news for Biden. This won't increase approval ratings for an administration whose country is desperately trying to move past COVID.
