Head of Russia’s space program says sanctions could imperil future of space station

The International Space Station has long been an important symbol of human cooperation against a backdrop of wars and savagery. Its breakup would be a sad day for science and humanity.
It was a short-sighted decision from the US to rely on Russia for the success of its space missions. The recent events in Ukraine underscore the need to immediately break this dependency and for the US to develop its own capabilities.
