Five Palestinian militants linked to the armed branch of Hamas were killed on Monday during an Israeli army raid in Jericho's large Aqabat Jabr refugee camp in the West Bank — an area in which the Islamic group governing the Gaza Strip is less prominent.
Israeli troops reportedly entered the area to locate those behind an attempted mass shooting on Jan. 28, exchanging gunfire and neutralizing Palestinian gunmen identified as Rafat Wael Awadat, Malik Awni Lafi, Adham Majdi Awadat, Ibrahim Wael Awadat, and Thaer Awadat.
This raid, and the recent violence in the West Bank, are the price Palestinian terrorists must pay for their campaigns of terror and violence. The Israeli government will wage an uncompromising war on such terrorists and do everything in its power to protect the security of the country.
The Israeli occupation forces have engendered this cycle of violence in the West Bank that is now also affecting the once undisturbed city of Jericho, where they carried out another massacre on Monday. As Israel apparently seeks to repeat what was seen in 2022, and kill more Palestinians than in any previous calendar year since the Second Intifada, popular resistance will keep fighting.
