The Facts

  • Russia once again targeted Ukraine's energy infrastructure on Friday, launching 94 missiles and 193 drones according to Ukraine's Air Force.

  • It added that 81 of the missiles were shot down and that the majority of the drones were either shot down or diverted.

The Spin

Pro-Ukraine narrative

This is how Russian Pres. Putin seeks peace negotiations — large-scale attacks that terrorize millions of people. It's clear that talking to Putin can't work and he will only be made to stop via a show of force that lets him know that there will be consequences.

Pro-Russia narrative

This attack was launched in direct response to a Ukrainian attack using US-supplied ATACMS missiles on Russian territory. Russia warned there would be consequences for such attacks and that advice was not heeded.
