Democrats are paying the price for their in-fighting, as well as their inability to put forth any serious opposition, and their extremism on many issues. Republicans, meanwhile, have remained unified around their winning messages and policies, which bodes well for the party's future.
Despite current polling challenges, Democrats have demonstrated electoral resilience — even winning in 13 House districts that voted for Trump. The party's authentic leadership and focus on kitchen-table issues, including housing costs and public safety, positions it well for future success in 2026 and beyond.
The Democratic Party needs a complete reboot. Voters feel betrayed by party leadership and have lost confidence in the party's ability to effectively oppose Republican policies and represent constituents' interests in the face of the societal assault by the Trump administration. There must be more unity and a shift away from the status quo to right the party's course.
