The Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) is a specialized agency within the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) that helps member countries maintain and further develop the scientific, technological and legal bases required for safe, environmentally sound and economical use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. Founded in 1958, the NEA currently has 34 member countries in Europe, North America and the Asia-Pacific region.
