António Costa

António Costa served as Portugal's Prime Minister from 2015 to 2024, leading the Socialist Party government through economic recovery and the COVID-19 pandemic. He resigned in November 2023 amid a corruption investigation involving lithium mining and green hydrogen projects. In 2024, he was appointed President of the European Council, taking office in December to lead the EU's strategic direction.
