Asim Munir

Asim Munir is the Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan, taking office in November 2022, and in May 2025 was promoted to the rank of Field Marshal—the first in Pakistan in nearly 60 years. He has a substantial intelligence background, having served as Director General of Military Intelligence and then of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), and is known for a security-first stance and assertive posture toward both internal militancy and external threats.
