Eileen Higgins

Eileen Higgins (born circa 1963/1964) is an American politician who is the mayor-elect of Miami, making history as the city's first female mayor and first Democratic mayor since 1997. A member of the Democratic Party, she previously served on the Miami-Dade County Commission from 2018 to 2025, where she championed affordable housing, environmental sustainability, and transit expansion. In December 2025, she won the Miami mayoral runoff election with 59.3% of the vote, defeating Republican candidate Emilio Gonzalez in a closely watched race that ended nearly 30 years of Republican control of the office.
