Alfred Charles "Al" Sharpton Jr. is an American civil rights leader, Baptist minister, political activist, and media personality. He is the founder and president of the National Action Network (NAN), a prominent civil rights organization established in 1991. Sharpton has been a vocal advocate for racial justice, voting rights, and economic equality, often organizing protests and demonstrations to address issues of systemic racism and social injustice. In 2004, he ran for the Democratic nomination for the U.S. presidency. He currently hosts the nationally syndicated radio show Keepin' It Real and serves as a political analyst and weekend host for MSNBC, where he leads the program PoliticsNation.
