Fentanyl spread through the air vents of an Ohio detention center on Sunday, hospitalizing 4 juvenile inmates and 3 wardens who collapsed after inhaling the opiod.
Local police are investigating how it was released.
Fentanyl is the latest substance in an opiod epidemic plaguing the US. Like other opioids, it was designed to alleviate pain but has been misused and drawn nationwide attention as it has come to dominate the public health crisis. More education is needed to protect people.
Fentanyl is being trafficked through porous American borders, originating in China and often travelling via Mexico to enter the US. Biden's weak immigration and security policies are fuelling drug related deaths, especially among younger users. Security must be tightened.
