Anthony Albanese was sworn in on Mon. as Australia's new PM and has flown to Tokyo to meet with leaders of the Quad nations (India, Japan, and the US).
Now former PM Scott Morrison conceded defeat in the national election on Sat., ending almost a decade of conservative rule.

Left narrative
Morrison was a divisive figure who chose to weaponize climate change, and alienated professional women with his inept handling of Australia's #MeToo reckoning. Albanese, in contrast, is an inclusive figure who promises a progressive agenda at a time when the Australian people are overwhelmingly demanding change.
Right narrative
Albanese's climate change plans are ambitious, and it seems that both major parties have bled votes to fringe and independent voices. In addition to campaigning against Labor, the attempts to fight off new challenges from so-called teal independent candidates simply proved too much for Morrison.
