Biden has authorized the National Archives to hand over approximately 23K emails and other attachments from the Trump admin. to the House Select Committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol riots.
Although Trump sent a letter in Mar. to the National Archives saying that he wanted to potentially claim executive privilege on certain documents, the collection is expected to go to the committee on May 26.
The attack on the Capitol was not a spontaneous event. It was a deliberate and organized attempt to overturn the will of the American electorate. With every interview, the Jan. 6 Committee gets one step closer to holding those who organized and incited the violence accountable, including the former president.
Trump is trying to defend democracy, not subvert it. Biden and his campaign boasted during the 2020 campaign that they had recruited hundreds of lawyers to fight the election result in the event that they lost. Hypocritically, the Jan. 6 Committee now considers the same approach a crime when done by Trump.
