    The Facts

    • On Tues., the Biden Admin announced it had restored key provisions to the foundational National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) that the Trump administration had previously rolled back.

    • NEPA was first enacted in 1969 and required the federal government to consider the environmental and climate impacts of its projects, as well as encourage collaboration with vulnerable communities.

    The Spin

    Republican narrative

Biden's restoration of these regulations will drastically slow down vital infrastructure projects. Trump tried to cut back on the "mountains and mountains of bureaucratic red tape," but bringing back this woke policy will gum up approvals for everything from roads to broadband to energy.

    Democratic narrative

Biden understands the importance of climate change and social justice, and any measure to protect our Earth and vulnerable communities is the right decision. Bringing back these rules will expedite federal infrastructure projects by ensuring they're done right the first time.
