    The Facts

    • The US House of Representatives voted 396-27 Tues. on a bill that provides security to the family members of SCOTUS justices. The 27 "NO" votes were all Dems.

    • The bill passed unanimously in the Senate last month after a leaked draft indicated that SCOTUS is likely to overturn Roe v. Wade, but it has been stalled by Dems. in the House who sought to include security for other SCOTUS staff beyond the justices.

    The Spin

    Republican narrative

Justices have become a target by radical pro-abortionists since the leaked draft, and the attempted attack on Kavanaugh highlights the urgency of this bill. It was unconscionable for Dems to delay protection for justices and their families.

    Democratic narrative

Refusing protection for other Supreme Court staff is a hill McConnell and his Republican colleagues are prepared to die on. The leaked draft, which could easily have been released by a conservative, has put even lower-level staff like clerks in potential danger, which is why the Dems. looked to give them protection, too. This shows, yet again, that the Republican Party only cares about protecting the most powerful.
