    The Facts

    • More than five years since his last appearance in an NFL game, free-agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick took part in a workout with the Las Vegas Raiders on Wed., according to an anonymous source.

    • The 34-yr-old hasn't played in the NFL since he took the knee during the national anthem in protest of racial injustice before a San Fransisco 49ers' games in 2016.

    The Spin

    Right narrative

Kaepernick isn't a hero. Having praised Fidel Castro and compared police to slave-catchers, it would be complete insanity for the NFL to associate their brand with him, especially as he hasn't played in several years.

    Left narrative

Kaepernick deserves a chance to play in the NFL. He was considered one of the better quarterbacks before he found himself exiled from the league over his protests against social injustice. He has also become a popular figure among progressives in the US and signing him as a quarterback could boost the Raiders' business.
