    The Facts

    • Assamad Nash, a 25-year-old homeless man, has been arrested and charged with murder and burglary in the death of Christina Yuna Lee, who was found stabbed to death in her Chinatown apartment last weekend.

    • Nash has a long record of arrests dating back to 2015, on charges including assault, burglary and drug possession. He was most recently arrested in January.

    The Spin

    Conservative narrative

Lee's murder is part of a rise in crime caused by progressive legislators and district attorneys enacting policies that let criminals walk the streets even after multiple arrests. These policies don't work and must be reversed to save the city.

    Progressive narrative

Critics of criminal justice reform haven't proven a direct link to the rise in crime. Instead of rolling back reforms, the focus should be on increased housing, improved services for the mentally ill and establishing more community anti-violence programs.
