    The Facts

    • Iranian Pres. Ebrahim Raisi warned Israel on Mon. not to make the slightest move against Iran or risk facing severe retaliation that would target its very heart.

    • "If you make the smallest movement against the Iranian nation, the destination of our armed forces will be the center of the Zionist regime," Raisi said in a televised speech during Iran's National Army Day, where its military displayed defense technology, weapons and troops.

    The Spin

    Narrative A

This is just one more example in a series of aggression against Israel going back generations. Israel, and the rest of the world, are rightly concerned about Iran's nuclear capabilities and military power. The West may have set a dangerous precedent in their dealings over Ukraine; Iran must be kept under control.

    Narrative B

Iran is tired of being pushed around by Israel and the US. Raisi's comments during the military parade were intended to highlight Iran's strength and rightful ability to protect itself. Iran isn't going to start a war, but if Israel is going to continue its aggression, including killing Iranian scientists and launching drone strikes, Iran's military is ready to defend the country.
