    The Facts

    • Rudy Giuliani, one-time personal attorney to former Pres. Trump, met virtually on Fri. with the House Select Committee investigating the Jan. 6 riot, according to sources familiar with the meeting.

    • Trump allegedly tasked Giuliani with finding evidence of electoral fraud in the aftermath of the Nov. 2020 elections, which Trump lost to Joe Biden.

    The Spin

    Pro-Trump narrative

"America's Mayor" just wanted transparency. He asked to record his testimony so that his comments couldn't be misconstrued and taken out of context. Although rightly postponed when this request was denied, the meeting was re-scheduled after negotiations. Giuliani has nothing to hide, as proven by his willingness to disclose any information not protected by privilege.

    Democratic narrative

Giuliani has so thoroughly disgraced himself that it's easy to dismiss his bizarre public antics in the aftermath of the 2020 election as comical. But that would be a mistake. Giuliani was at the very center of the former president's schemes to overturn the election, and his testimony could be key to the committee's efforts to hold those responsible accountable.
