    The Facts

    • On Wed., Donald Trump rescinded his endorsement of Rep. Mo Brooks in Alabama's Senate race.

    • Brooks's poor performance and campaign staffing in the race, as well as his softening stance on the 2020 election fraud claims, were cited in a statement by Trump.

    The Spin

    Left narrative

This fallout is the result of more petty political battles between Trump and GOP members. The former President hasn't yet given up on baseless claims of election fraud and, thanks to his embroilment with the complex and nonsensical allegations, Brooks has ended up on the wrong side of him.

    Pro-Trump narrative

Brooks was desperate to keep hold of Trump's highly influential endorsement, but he made a serious error in going woke and telling Alabama Republicans to move on from an election that was stolen from them.

    Right narrative

This wasn't anything to do with the 2020 election fraud claims - it was a straightforward political response to Brooks' continued bad polling. The fact that Trump pulled his endorsement so near the election makes clear his endorsements aren't meaningful, just transparently tactical.
