    The Facts

    • On Tues., six-term Congressman Mo Brooks was defeated by Trump-endorsed candidate Katie Britt in the Ala. GOP Senate primary runoff. Britt captured 63% of the vote to Brooks' 37%.

    • Britt, a former chief of staff to retiring Sen. Richard Shelby and most recently the leader of the Business Council of Alabama, garnered 44.8% of the vote in last month's primary - shy of the 50% needed to avoid a runoff.

    The Spin

    Pro-Trump narrative

Trump knows a loser when he sees one, and once Brooks was disloyal the former president had an easy call to make. With this seat a lock for the GOP, Trump knows he'll have another loyalist in the Senate come 2023.

    Democratic narrative

This is the immoral state of the GOP. If you're not a servile stooge to Trump and his election lies, you get dumped in the blink of an eye. Where this will take democracy, no one knows.
