A British Conservative MP arrested over allegations of rape and sexual assault on Tues. has been released on bail pending further inquiries.
The unnamed individual was also detained on suspicion of abuse of position of trust and misconduct in public office. Officers received a report concerning the MP in Jan. 2020 relating to alleged sexual offenses between 2002-2009.

This is a disgraceful situation that is being poorly handled. Staff safety should be the priority, and no chances should be taken; the suspect needs to be publicly identified and banned from the estate. This is once again a bad look for the Conservative party, deepening concerns that the party is simply not fit to govern anymore.

This type of offense is not unique to the Conservative party; there have been a plethora of sexual misconduct cases stemming from various political parties. the Commons is notorious for its scandals and misconduct, and this latest arrest only highlights a wider problem that many have now nicknamed "Pestminster."
