US Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), 35, has formally announced her bid to become the ranking Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, competing against 74-year-old Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-Va.).
The position became available after current ranking member Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) decided to pursue the top Democratic position on the House Judiciary Committee.

AOC is the ideal leader to represent the Democrats on the Oversight Committee and hold Trump and his far-right allies accountable. Her proven track record of incisive questioning and collaboration as vice ranking member demonstrates her ability to challenge corruption and misinformation effectively. AOC, who once had some integrity on issues like ending wars, has become a shill for the Democrat establishment. Unlike real populists like Vivek Ramaswamy and JD Vance, who also hold common-sense views on social issues, Ocasio-Cortez is willing to sell out to the machine to gain power in pursuit of the presidency in 2028. While she may win this role on the committee, her woke beliefs and pseudo-anti-establishmentarianism will never gain national popularity.
