Apple Intelligence, a new artificial intelligence (AI) feature, generated a false headline about Luigi Mangione, the suspect in the murder of US health insurance CEO Brian Thompson, incorrectly claiming he had shot himself in a BBC News notification.
The BBC filed a formal complaint to Apple after the AI-powered tool misrepresented their reporting about Mangione, with Reporters Without Borders also voicing concerns and suggesting the feature be taken down.
