Three daughters of the late US civil rights leader Malcolm X have filed a $100M lawsuit in Manhattan federal court against multiple government agencies, including the FBI, CIA, and New York Police Department (NYPD), alleging their involvement in the 1965 assassination of their father.
The lawsuit claims that federal agencies and the NYPD were aware of credible threats against Malcolm X before his death at Manhattan's Audubon Ballroom, where he was shot 21 times while speaking to hundreds of people.
The government's fingerprints are all over this assassination, with evidence suggesting a corrupt and unconstitutional relationship between law enforcement and killers that was actively concealed and protected for years. While the country has long suspected this was the case, this lawsuit will shed new light on the decades of uncertainty that his family has suffered through. It's time they receive justice.
This case has already undergone significant review through the justice system, leading to corrective actions where warranted. Accusing law enforcement of suppressing evidence and having an unconstitutional relationship with the killers will not change the truth behind the events. Malcolm X's murderers have been held accountable, and allegations of the NYPD, FBI, and CIA conspiring to ensure his demise or fraudulently cover up their role are baseless.
