Researchers modeled the conditions necessary for life to survive in Martian ice and found that a habitable zone could exist between 5 and 38 centimeters (around 2 and 15 inches) deep in ice with 0.01-0.1% dust or between 2.15 and 3.10 meters (7 and 10 feet) within cleaner ice.
