US Pres.-elect Donald Trump announced Fox Business host and former congressional Rep. Sean Duffy (R-Wis.) as his nominee for Transportation Secretary on Monday.
Trump stated on Truth Social that Duffy was a "well-liked public servant" who would "rebuild [US] Infrastructure" and "greatly elevate the Travel Experience for all Americans," adding that he would eliminate diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) hires for pilots and air traffic controllers.

Republican narrative
Duffy brings valuable public service experience as a former congressman and district attorney, with proven leadership skills and an understanding of fiscal responsibility and rural development needs. Bipartisan relationships built from his time in Congress will be crucial for maintaining and rebuilding national infrastructure while fixing the broken transport system.
Democratic narrative
Despite Duffy's prior record in Congress, the Fox host has no relevant experience in the department he may shortly find himself in charge of. Trump's fixation on nominating conservative media ideologues who lack any prior management track records is likely to blow up in the face of the incoming administration at the detriment of the American people.
