1 in 5 Gen Z Adults Identify as LGBTQ Poll Finds

The Facts
Just under 21% of Gen Z adults (aged 18-25) identified themselves as LGBTQ according to a Gallup poll released Thursday.
The results suggest that those identifiying as LGBTQ could make up 10-15% of the adult population in the near future.
The Spin
Left narrative
The poll reflects a positive move away from an outdated culture. Increased visibility, representation and equality has succeeded, and being LGBTQ is now considered normal among younger generations.
Right narrative
The greatest growths in numbers is amongst bi and trans respondents, suggesting that recent increases are caused by social engineering rather than being "born gay". Identifying as LGBTQ is a trend amongst younger people that brings increased risk of mental illness and depression.
