The body of Spc. Bishop Evans, a Tex. Army National Guard member who went missing three days ago, was found and identified on Monday.
The 22-year-old soldier from Arlington, Tex., is believed to have drowned, swept away by the dangerous flows of the Rio Grande after helping two migrants who were crossing the river to enter the US. The search to recover his body had stalled over the weekend after the waters became too swift for the rescue teams.
Evans is the latest victim of Operation Lone Star, which is based purely on electoral goals and is producing disastrous consequences for everyone. While migrants are being deprived of their constitutional rights, deployed troops face extreme danger, pay problems, poor living conditions, and lack the right equipment to do their jobs.
While Evans' death is tragic, Texas Gov. Abbott's policies are necessary to control the migration crisis, which has been fuelled by President Biden's open border policies. Operation Lone Star is securing the border amid a record-high of illegal crossings promoted by drug cartels.
