    The Facts

    • Actor and activist James Cromwell pasted his hand to a Midtown Manhattan Starbucks counter on Tues. in a People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) protest against the coffee chain's extra charge for plant-based milk.

    • Cromwell, star of the "Babe" movies and HBO's "Succession," voiced his concerns, claiming that Starbucks enforces a "senseless charge" and is "raking in huge profits while customers, animals and the environment suffer."

    The Spin

    Left narrative

Cromwell for years has been one of the few Holllywood actors willing to walk the talk, and this latest stunt only confirms that. It's patently absurd that Starbucks charges extra for plant-based milk. Hopefully, Cromwell's protest will accelerate change, and encourage others to follow his calls to action.

    Right narrative

Cromwell has a history of making exorbitant claims and participating in protests that have landed him in jail. Starbucks' surcharge for plant-based milk is in keeping with the extra charge for any of its other customizations. His efforts would be better spent elsewhere.
