Putin extols Russian economic performance, defends military spending

Though modest, Ukraine's counteroffensive against Russian forces has started to gain momentum. Zelenskyy's forces are slowly pushing back Putin's troops and making ground, particularly in Zaporizhzhia. With the Russian military struggling with high-precision ammunition, Ukraine can break Russia's land bridge between annexed Crimea and eastern Donetsk.
While Ukraine is moving forward, writing off Russian capabilities would be a mistake as Putin's forces have improved their tactics and defenses and can set up a dangerous campaign. The Ukrainians wouldn't keep up with Putin's constantly shifting strategy, and Russia will ultimately achieve the aims of its special military operation.
