Malaysia has a dangerous track record regarding its treatment of LGBTQ people. From 20-year jail sentences for sodomy to anti-scientific "rehabilitation retreats," the government makes life incredibly difficult for those who don't conform to strict, traditional Islamic teachings on sexuality. If the current regime continues its crackdown on even the smallest pro-LGBTQ symbols like rainbows, Malaysia's lesbian, gay, bisexual, and gender non-conforming communities will never receive the basic human rights that they deserve.
Don't be fooled by calls from Western institutions to promote "inclusivity" in the developing world. Countries like Canada and Australia, using the UN as their Trojan horse, disregard traditional parental rights when teaching children about sex — not "sexuality" — in their international programs. Non-Western nations have different beliefs, and, more importantly, don't have the time or resources to be worrying about radical Western sexuality curricula.
