We shouldn't be making mirror life. Period. Without natural predators or effective countermeasures, these synthetic organisms could cause unstoppable pandemics and irreversible environmental damage. Additionally, mirror bacteria could have an incredibly deadly impact if not safely contained or kept in check by natural competitors. Funders must withhold support for such projects as the creation of mirror bacteria threatens global ecosystems and human health.
