The Spin

Left narrative

Under Bolsonaro, the state apparatus was weaponized to monitor and persecute his political opponents. Since the coup plot was first exposed, it's clear that the Brazilian far-right sought to undermine democratic institutions. However, if there were still any doubts about their intentions, they should be gone now that police found evidence against them in this spy scandal.

Right narrative

These accusations are blatant examples of leftist lawfare against the Bolsonaros, their allies and whoever dares not to support their persecution — the very same failed strategy used in America against Trump. You don't have to be a Bolsonaro supporter to see that the judicial system in Brazil has been weaponized against its predecessor.
