This massive data breach shows that ransomware attacks are escalating against companies large and small, risking tens of millions of dollars in ransom. Cl0p has also hit giants like British Airways and the BBC, compromising 3,000+ US firms. Meanwhile, China's Salt Typhoon hacker has compromised telecoms in dozens of countries, stealing data from nearly all Americans. Companies must focus their cyber threat protections on both private and state actors.
This breach exposes Big Tech's disregard for user privacy. While CEOs enjoy robust security, customers and mid-to-low-level staff face vulnerabilities. Companies like Oracle, which has a history of trying to cover up data breaches, prioritizes content curation for U.S. and Israeli interests, not user protection, as shown by the political move to give the company control over TikTok. Ransomware exploits this neglect, endangering millions, but never the elites.
