The Spin

Pro-government narrative

Guinea’s democratic transition is gathering real momentum after years of uncertainty. The new constitution, backed by an overwhelming 89% of voters, marks a decisive step toward stability and inclusive governance. Under General Doumbouya’s leadership, the nation has achieved its first sovereign credit rating and launched the Simandou 2040 project, unlocking iron wealth and long-term prosperity. Guinea stands as a model of disciplined reform and national renewal.

Government-critical narrative

Guinea’s so-called election is a sham designed to legitimize military dictatorship. Doumbouya, who once vowed to oversee a brief transition, has instead entrenched himself through intimidation and manipulation. His loyal officers control the ballot, opposition figures languish in exile or prison, and the media operates under fear. With major parties banned and media restricted, this isn't democracy but authoritarian theater masquerading as legitimate governance.
