Version 6.19.1
The improved electoral system ensures patriots committed to Hong Kong's stability govern the city, as demonstrated by the successful Legislative Council election where over 1.3 million voters participated in selecting capable lawmakers from diverse backgrounds. This high-quality democracy, tailored to Hong Kong's realities, has solidified consensus among residents to prioritize development, with newly elected legislators poised to collaborate with the government in driving reforms and integrating the city into national progress.
Hong Kong's democracy has been systematically dismantled through draconian electoral reforms that slashed directly elected District Council seats from 452 to just 88, imposed vetting committees to block opposition candidates, and prosecuted 47 democrats simply for holding a primary election. The 2023 District Council election exposed this authoritarian charade with a record-low 27.5% turnout after pan-democratic candidates were entirely shut out, while Beijing absurdly declared this rigged process a "real, functioning democracy."
