New Zealand’s industrial strategy is a comprehensive plan to make the country richer and more secure. Integration with the Australian market, more flexible procurement rules, and greater opportunities for market collaboration will provide the New Zealand Defence Force with its required equipment and services and the economy with the business needed to grow.

Instead, the government should be using these billions to fund socially productive investments that have a chance of bringing the country out of its economic malaise.
