The SAF's recent victories mark a pivotal shift in the conflict, signaling the end of the Battle of Khartoum, which has been waged since the conflict began. With its grip on the capital lost, the RSF will be forced to retreat to its stronghold in Darfur, effectively ceding central Sudan to government forces. With their stranglehold over Khartoum secured, the SAF will be in a better position to prosecute their war.
Although the RSF's defeat in Khartoum is a major blow, the war is far from over. Withdrawing to their strong points in western Sudan, and in light of the continued support they will receive from foreign entities, such as the United Arab Emirates, and from their allies like SPLM-N (al-Hilu), the RSF remains capable of prolonging the conflict.
