As the world reflects on the fourth anniversary of the Taliban's illegal seizure of power, the international community must resolutely stand against efforts to normalize its brutal and repressive regime. For the sake of Afghanistan's girls and women, the global community must hold leading Taliban figures to account for their transgressions and fight for a better tomorrow.
The Taliban’s orchestrated celebration of the fourth anniversary of its takeover is less about governance and more about consolidating power under the guise of legitimacy. Outside powers only perpetuate cycles of dependency and domination when they insist on dictating outcomes in Kabul.
