Donald Trump Jr. will conduct a private one-day visit to Greenland this Tuesday, to shoot video content for a podcast among other activities. He will reportedly be accompanied by conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
This comes after Pres.-elect Donald Trump reiterated his desire for US control of Greenland in December 2024, stating that ownership of the territory is "an absolute necessity" for US national security.
Greenland's Prime Minister Mute Egede firmly rejected Trump's proposition, declaring that "Greenland is not for sale and will never be for sale," while emphasizing the territory's sovereignty.
Despite its colonial history, Greenland remains under Danish rule, and Denmark continues to manage its foreign and security policies. Greenland is administered as an independent territory of Denmark, and persists in battling for independence and cultural identity. Greenland's right to self-determination must be protected from foreign control.
The acquisition of Greenland represents a crucial strategic necessity for American national security and economic interests, as well as offering tremendous benefits to Greenland's people through US protection and development of its resources.
