California's emissions standards were a de facto national ban on gas-powered vehicles, and the Trump administration is right to overrule such a blatantly radical plan that the rest of America wants no part of. Consumer choice and the free market must be respected, as these interventions and tax credits are blatant distortions. These rules would also decimate the trucking industry, which has made its own strides in reducing emissions.
Democratic narrative
The GOP has approved a legally null ruling that tramples on the right of California to set its own emissions standards. Trump has been bought and paid for by the oil and gas industry, which is rolling back national progress toward climate change to line their pockets. California's leader have made every vehicle cleaner and more efficient, and they will fight back against this undemocratic and regressive push against electric vehicles.
