Hours before US and Ukrainian delegations met in Saudi Arabia for talks aimed at resolving the Russia-Ukraine conflict on Tuesday, Ukraine launched an attack on Russia with hundreds of drones.
Russia's Defense Ministry said it shot down a total of 337 drones over 10 regions of the country on Tuesday, including 91 drones over the wider Moscow region that encompassed the Russian capital.
Russian officials said two people were killed and 18 were injured in the Moscow region. Damage was also reported to a number of residential buildings and vehicles while a number of airports temporarily restricted flights.
As this attack comes as Ukrainian officials meet US counterparts in Saudi Arabia, Kyiv is likely trying to thwart the progress towards peace in the conflict.
Russia's persistent attacks on Ukraine, killing civilians and damaging residential infrastructure, are continuing. This demonstrates why Russia cannot be trusted in any peace negotiations.
