The Spin

Establishment-critical narrative

Falsehoods about Nicaragua's elected government have been spread as part of the U.S. regime-change apparatus, repeating tired lies while ignoring the country's remarkable social achievements. The real threat Nicaragua poses is challenging the neoliberal order through genuine progress for working people.

Pro-establishment narrative

It's about time for international community to step in and stop the Ortega-Murillo dictatorship. As if transforming their own country into an authoritarian state that lacks basic human rights protections were not bad enough, Nicaragua's regime now poses a regional threat by operating clandestine networks abroad to track, harass and even kill its critics.
