Ukraine-Russia

Following last week's reports of mass civilian graves and bodies littering the streets in Bucha, world leaders condemned Russia and demanded an independent investigation. Russia called for an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council to discuss the allegations on Monday, but the request was denied.The Council met as originally planned on Tuesday where Zelenskyy described details of the alleged atrocities, and Russia denounced the accusations as false. Wednesday saw talks of more sanctions on Russia, while the Institute for the Study of War a US military think-tank confirmed that Russian withdrawal from the Kyiv rergion was near complete. On Thursday, Ukraine called on NATO allies to provide more weapons, as Russia claimed it destroyed 4 fuel storage facilities.Meanwhile, the UN General Assembly voted to suspend Russia from the Human Rights Council. Friday saw the UK's MoD confirm the full withdrawal of Russian forces from Northern Ukraine, while Russia was accused of bombing a railway station in Kramatorsk, in the Donetsk Oblast, killing and wounding dozens.In a show of solidarity with Ukraine, UK PM Boris Johnson met with Zelenskyy in Kyiv on Saturday.

World Politics

Rodrigo Chaves became president of Costa Rica,Hungary elected Viktor Orban for a fifth term, Hong Kong chief executive Carrie Lam confirmed she won't seek a second term, andYemen's president stepped aside amidst efforts to end the war.Meanwhile,Pakistan's PM Imran Khan was removed by a vote of no confidence, after the supreme court overturned a move to dissolve the National Assembly.In other news,human rights groups accused Ethiopia of ethnic cleansing in Tigray,the Taliban announced a poppy production ban, andSri Lanka's government faced mass resignations as protests continue.Meanwhile, amid the Ukraine war,the UK sanctioned Vladimir Putin and Sergei Lavrov's daughters,and Airbnb cancelled all reservations in Russia and Belarus.Elsewhere, the Mexico-US border city of Tijuana saw an influx of Ukrainian refugees,former UN prosecutor Carla Del Ponte called for the International Criminal Court to issue an arrest warrant for Putin,and Russia threatened to end International Space Station cooperation.In the US, Federal prosecutors charged Russian Konstantin Malofeyev with violating sanctions, whilethe FBI seized a $90M mega yacht belonging to a businessman with alleged Putin ties.

US Politics

Biden proposed a change to the Affordable Care Act,senators planned a bipartisan amendment in an effort to prevent Title 42 immigration restrictions from being lifted, andKetanji Brown Jackson was appointed to the Supreme Court.In Trump news,the former president endorsed Sarah Palin for congress,two tech execs quit his platform 'Truth Social,' andCongress found Trump aides Scavino and Navarro in contempt.Meanwhile, former aide Matt Mowers was found to have voted in two state primaries in 2016, andthe DOJ launched an investigation into Trump's handling of classified documents.In other news,Biden said he's confident that his son Hunter didn't break the law amid a federal probe into China dealings, anda text message from Clinton's campaign lawyer who is accused of lying to the FBI was revealed.

Biden nominated the first woman to head a military branch, andthe US secretly tested a new hypersonic missile.

Finance & Money

Minutes from the Fed's March meeting were released as mortgage rates rose,new unemployment claims reached a 54-year low,and the Biden administration announced that it will pause student loan payments for 4 months.Meanwhile, Treasury Secretary Yellen called for cryptocurrency regulation, andMusk's disclosure of Twitter stock purchase may have netted him $156M.In other news, BLM was reported to have purchased a SoCal mansion for $6M, andan ABC news report revealed that the Secret Service is paying $30K a month for a mansion near Hunter Biden.Meanwhile, members of the International Energy Agency are reportedly planning to release nearly 60M barrels of oil from reserves.

Civil Liberties

On the LGBTQ front, theSouth Carolina House passed a transgender sports ban, andBritish Cycling banned trans athletes from female cycling events days afterUK PM Boris Johnson voiced his support for trans sports bans.Conversely, Palm Springs approved funding for a potential transgender and non-binary UBI program.In other news, Oklahoma legislature approved a bill to make abortion illegal, andSCOTUS ruled that a New York man can sue police for malicious prosecution, setting a precedent for future cases.

COVID News

The FDA held a hearing on COVID vaccines as questions over boosters remain,House Speaker Nancy Pelosi tested positive, andChina deployed its military and thousands of healthcare workers to test Shanghai's residents.
