Russia-Ukraine

Heavy fighting continued this week, as Russian missile strikes targeted the western Ukrainian city of Lviv on Monday, and Russia launched its anticipated large-scale ground offensive on the eastern Donbas region late that night, sources reported on Tuesday.Meanwhile, Putin called off an attack on the remaining Ukrainian holdouts in the Azovstal steelworks plant in Mariupol on Thursday, opting for a blockade instead, after declaring the city "liberated," despite having reissued calls to surrenderon Wednesday. Fighting in the eastern regions of Ukraine continued on Friday as a satellite image appearing to show mass graves west of Mariupol was released. Meanwhile, acting commander of Russia's central military district, Rustam Minnekayev, publicly announced that Russia aims to seize control of southern Ukraine and create a land bridge to Crimea. On Sunday, which marked two months since the war began, Ukrainian Pres. Zelenskyy spoke of hope and victory for Ukraine in his Orthodox Easter address.

Former Honduran President Hernndez was extradited to the US, Macron won the French presidential election after facing off in a debate with Marine Le Pen earlier in the week shortly after Le Pen was accused of embezzlement and China and the Solomon Islands signed a security deal.Meanwhile, Mexico's Congress rejected an energy industry overhaul, and paved the way to nationalize lithium.In other news, Boris Johnson apologized over his Partygate fine, but still faces a Commons inquiry,Wimbledon banned Russian and Belarusian players, the US attempted to seize a Russian superyacht in Fiji,and the Archbishop of Canterbury condemned the UK's plan to send migrants to Rwanda.
