John Herbst

John E. Herbst is a retired U.S. career diplomat who served as ambassador to Uzbekistan (2000–2003) and Ukraine (2003–2006) and later became senior director of the Atlantic Council’s Eurasia Center. His work has focused on democratic reform and security in the post-Soviet region.
