Fires and firefighters

The historic Grand Canyon Lodge on the North Rim has been destroyed by the Dragon Bravo Fire, which consumed between 50 and 80 structures, including visitor facilities, employee housing, and administrative buildings. The fire started from a lightning strike on July 4 and rapidly expanded due to hot temperatures, low humidity, and wind gusts up to 40 mph (64.4 kph).
